Sublingual salivary gland:

This is a longitudinal section of a sublingual salivary gland. It is a mixed gland although the mucous element (open, focculent, cells) far exceeds the serous component (dense, granular, cells), possibly by a ratio of as much as 10:1. The intralobular duct system is greatly reduced compared to either the submandibular or parotid glands.
